Softly Reaching Through Chaos

Softly Reaching Through Chaos

Though this chaos rages
You watch it through windows
Safe in houses and arms
Safe in words and thoughts
Though you think one rages inside
It is but a snapshot
Stuck to the pane
Stuck to the pain
It can be washed away

I can’t tell what it’s like outside
The window is fogged up, boarded up
Hiding from the hurricane hunting me
As I listen to the world getting washed away
I wait for you to find me in the shelter of my mind
I wait quietly, patiently for the storm to pass
For the sun to find it’s way through this window of mine

Through the eye of your mind’s hurricane
Sunlight reaches through
Looks down at shredded envelopes
Dries your cold soul
Warms your tired heart
Gives you strength for the returning storm
As the eye passes, winking salvation

I drink in my surroundings
To the springtime that has come
I slowly open the cellar door
To what the world has become
I peer from behind shutters
To the revolution that fought for me
I gaze upon the eyes that came to rescue me

Storm ended
Chaos calmed and sanity restored
The aftermath is a tombstone
To the bitter past
A hand reaches out
Taking yours, softly
Leading you past the destruction
To the soft beaches
The glowing setting sun
Reflecting on the tranquil water
Promising new horizons
